How to respond to
a “Notification of Provisional Refusal”
issued by the JPO under the Madrid System
When an intermediary of a representative responds a notification of provisional refusal,
an executed Power of Attorney has to be filed along with a written opinion.
The JPO does not accept a copy of the Power of Attorney.
Thus, the intermediary of a representative has to file the original one.
Therefore, a foreign colleague should submit it to the intermediary as soon as possible.
