The Act on the Partial Revision of the Patent Act and Other Acts：“color” and “sound” trademarks

＜Expand the Scope of Protection＞

Add non-traditional trademarks such as “color” and “sound” that are already being protected in some foreign countries (Trademark Act 2(1)).

At the revision of this time, only “color” and “sound” are added the scope of protection. However, there are possibilities for "movement", "hologram", "position", and "smell" trademarks to be added without revisions.

We guess that “color” and “sound” trademarks will be able to file from April 1, 2015.
