issued by the JPO under the Madrid System
Can holders extend the deadline?
Yes, they can. The JPO allows two types of extensions.
1. One month extension
Holders can file one month extension with the JPO before the deadline.
The official fee is approx. USD 20.
2. Two month extension
Holders cannot file two month extension before the deadline or the above one month extended deadline.
They need to file it along with an amendment and/or a written opinion in two months from the deadline or the above one month extended deadline.
The official fee is approx. USD 40.
